I just had a mucocele removed a couple of hours ago. The blog/post by kadavy is great for info (thanks!) but terrible for a hypochondriac like me. Those posts by Ardy were scary. So, my worries now are re:
1) infection. I wanted antibiotics but was told it was not necessary. How can I prevent infection? Can I use Neosporin or Savlon creams? Can I rinse with my Oral-B anticavity alcohol-free mouthwash? Should I get an antibacterial rinse? Help!
2) pain. My lip still feels numb but I have taken one Vicodin. When can I start eating properly (not ice cream)? Is brushing recommended or will toothpaste hurt the surgery site?
Thanks in advance.

Hope,
I do remember having a bit of difficulty brushing my teeth, but I didn't have any problems with the toothpaste. Most importantly, I had to be careful not to irritate the stiches with the toothbrush itself. I just tried to be gentle, and pull my lip away from my teeth as best as I could to make room for the brush.
I don't remember the doctor mentioning much to me about preventing infection, but they did encourage me to swish with wather regularly to make up for the fact that my teeth weren't getting brushed as well as before. I don't imagine that using mouthwash would do any harm to the site or the surgery, but check with your doctor if you are concerned about infection. Infection didn't cross my mind after surgery, and I fortunately didn't have any problems with it.
Ardy's posts were scary. Hopefully he will come back and give us all an update some day.

I found a small interdental toothbrush easier to use than my normal one for the first few days. With that, you don't need to pull your lip quite so far away from your teeth to brush. Also for the first 2 days, I just brushed with salt water, rather than toothpaste - not the best for breath freshness, but less irritating ;)
