my daughter is 7 months old and has what was diagnosed as a mucocele. It rests on the behind the bottom of her gumline, lower part of mouth (where the tip of the tongue lays) when you are at rest. I have been referred to a pediatric surgeon. It is very small but I am curious to know how much bigger it will get.

I just had a mucocele removed this morning. I too thought along the lines of oral cancer even though I would not be considered at risk. Anyway, I was told by my oral surgeon that they grow and shrink according to how much they are irritated and usually end up being surgically removed. He did sometimes they pop and don't come back, but more times than not, they do fill up again and re-grow. It only took about 15 minutes , and other than a numb mouth, it seems to be fine. He also mentioned these are common with children when they injure thier mouths or bite the lip. I bit my lip a few times in a row and ended up with this "small white grape" on the inside of my lip.
I would suggest talking to an oral surgeon. Good Luck!
