Ive had this bump on my lower lip for 6 yrs, due to trama when i bit my lip in 6th grade. I had it removed 2 years ago and was happy to see it go. My joy was short lived, however, and the day after getting the stitches removed it came right back. I have since tried to just ignore it, but seeing as im going to college in 4wks, i need this thing gone (for obvious reasons). My question is, has anyone, like myself had to get theirs removed a second time and found success doing so? I really don't like needles, but i will do anything to see this thing gone.

I have heard from some people who have had them come back after surgery (check out this post). I think it's only natural that when one gets a mucocele surgically removed, another salivary gland may occasionally get disturbed and cause another mucocele. It doesn't seem likely that you would get three in a row, but it doesn't look like you have much choice but to give it another go!

Let us know what happens!

Thanks for reply. Guess i just had to hear from someone else that if i went and got it cut out again it wouldn't come back. Now i got to find a oral surgeon.

Hey Bleach,
I had mine remvoed three times before they finally got it right and it has been gone thus far for 6 months! The first two times they thought it was a papiloma and just removed the lump. The third time the dentist realized it was a mucocele and he removed the salivary gland - should they remove THAT, it would be pretty difficult, if not impossible, for it to grow back in the exact same spot. Maybe you bit your lip while it was numb in a different spot very close? Get it checked out again and ask the doc to remove the salivary gland - that is, the underlying cause!

Hello there,
I woke up this morning to find a lump on the inside of my cheek. It looks like most of the other pictures I found, but mine is a dark red- dark black color. Does this mean it's not a mucocele? Any advice? Thank you so much!! = ) (I would post the picture, but do not see an attatchment option on this site?)
