hi. i have a mucocele that appeared after i bit the inside of my lower lip really hard. it came right before i left for a long vacation so i have not had it removed yet because i just got back. while i was on vacation, the mococele would get really small when i was in warmer climates...it got so small i thought it was gone forever!! when i went to a city which was much colder, it came back. :( i was bummed. anyway, im going away again and will probably have it removed when i get back if it doesn't go away on it's own by then. i live in an area which is mostly warm so i keep hoping that will help it go away! :)
anyway, my question is, to those who have had theirs removed, has your mococele come back?
i have read on other sites that it does sometimes come back and am wondering if there are habits that promote recurrence or if they come back spontaneously? do they only come back if you are a chronic lip biter or do they come back regardless of attempts of prevention?
also, of those who suffer scar tissue lumps post-surgery.....how bad/noticeable/annoying is the scar? can people feel it when they kiss you? has anyone had NO scar tissue form? can scar tissue be prevented?
also i want to mention that i love this message board. it is so nice to have other people to talk to about this that don't get grossed out and think you actually have something scary or contagious! my mom thinks im contagious regardless of my insistance and explanations. she's nutty. :)

Hi, it's been a year since I had mine removed and it has not come back. (at least I think it was a year... but I could be wrong!) I do still have scar tissue that is noticeable, but to me only. It's just a line of skin on the inside of my lip that feels hard, but I don't notice it while eating/talking, or anything of that sort. I wouldn't worry about the scar tissue too much, it's generally very tiny, and no one else can see it!
