Mucocele

I had a mucocele removed about 4 weeks ago. I was a bit freaked out about it being oral cancer, however, it was not. The surgery was quick and painless, however, I looked like I had Angelina Jolie lips for a few days. Now, my problem is, a small portion of my lower lip is still numb. This is very annoying! Will this go away??? I hope so, or maybe, keeping the lump would have been a wiser decision.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how long before you get the feeling back, or will I have a numb lip forever?

Hello, I actually didn't have surgery to remove a mucocele, but I think I need to. but I did have lip implants inserted and then taken out (I was horrified at myself for even getting them). My lips swelled huge and shrunk both times I had the surgeries and they were numb for about 6 weeks both times. I think that it is likely that the numbness will go away, as I had surgery on my lips 2 times and the numbness went away both times. Best of luck to you!

The numbness may or may not stick around, numblip. It's been well over a year now since I had my mucocele removed, and I still have a small numb spot on my lip. I believe what my doctor said was that the feeling may come back within something like 6 months from the surgery time. I'm well past that now, so I've learned to live with it. I know it's quite an annoying feeling, but after a while you will stop noticing it.

I too have a small area that is still numb and this after about three years. But the area did get smaller and smaller over time so that now I can only notice it if I touch it. It can continue to improve for years so it may not be permanent.
