I had surgery last week for my second mucocele (first was under tongue, this one was on lower lip). I still have numbness on my lip.
i have read over a few post that others have experienced their lip being numb for quite a while after having surgery. now i don't know if this matters but i had a general anesthetic instead of a local anesthetic (i know... I'm a wimp)
this makes me think that maybe there was nerve damage to my lip, and if thats the case i doubt feeling will come back because nerve tissue generally does not regenerate.
maybe I'm over thinking this one but did anyone else have this problem with general anesthetic?

I am having it done with a general also. You are not a wimp. The location of yours warrant general anestetic IMO. Mine is on that little of fold of skin between the lower lip and the gum on the bottom front teeth. I've had mine 2 weeks now and it is getting more painful & larger everyday. My primary doc said if I were to have this done with a local, the shot alone would send me into shock because of the pain (and location.)
As for nerves healing: I had to have surgery to repair nerves in my left arm/hand/elbow from a major car accident. It took nearly 13 years to start to get feeling back after they repaired the nerve damage. That surgeon told me that nerves heal at a rate of a milimeter a month or something slow like that. (Maybe I don't have the exact measurement correct.)
Another location was my breast area: Had to have some major surgery there back in 2001 and the plastic surgeon said he had to cut through nerves to remove the leaking silicone. He had no choice. I still do not have feeling in that area to this day.
Call you doctor's office and ask them what is the normal time to get feeling back from your producedure. Or if you have a followup appointment, ask then.

just a lil update... i went back for my post-op... (by the way getting the stitches out was worse than the entire recovery of the mucocele. -- don't wanna scare anyone.. by thats how it was) my oral surgeon said that it may take a couple of months to get the full feeling back but idk i guess i'm still not sure.
They can't really say how long it will take for the numbness to go or if it will completely go. I still have a bit of numbness although I don't notice unless I touch my lip and it's been several years for me. I have another small mucocele now which I am just leaving for the time being. I might do something about it after the summer.
