would a mucocele ever go away on its own?

I occasionally (maybe 2-3 times/year) get pencil eraser-sized cysts inside my cheeks (never in my lip), but they seem to always go away after a week or two. They are painful only when poked at, and firm I happen to have one now near my jaw, which is what prompted the web search. I can't find anything on the web about these temporary annoyances.

I think some mucoceles are "superficial" and can become dormant for a time-
see http://www.emedicine.com/derm/topic648.htm . So in that sense they can "go away",
but obviously not being a physician I cannot say for certain. Just read this forum, some say
theirs have become latent while others say theirs' has never gone away or have enlarged.
It would be a good idea to see a qualified medical/dental expert.

The difference with mine, I think, is that they're always in different places. Sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right, and now for the first time near my jaw. Thanks for the response.
