One on my lip that appeared to be pretty superficial stabilized after I let it develop and collapse twice. I believe that one is no longer a factor.
I let a second on the inside of my cheek develop, waiting for a collapse, but it didn't collapse so much as recede down into the underlying tissue. Worried about it hardening into a cyst, or a more deeply seated mucocele that would be harder to remove, I cut it with my teeth and completely ripped it off. The skin healed quickly, no problems, and as I expected, the mucocele reappeared shortly thereafter. That was my aim though! I didn't want a cyst, just a superficial vesicle that will eventually develop to the point of collapse.
I'm very convinced that trial and error is the way to solve the problem. Doctors are brilliant, but with knowledge, the ultimate physician is the patient.
If the problem is allowed to develop too far, then it may require the intercession of a surgeon. If you don't allow it to develop that far, common sense and awareness can allow you to solve the problem yourself. Just know what's happening between the layers of skin there.
