Mucocele on lip

So, I'm pretty sure I have Mucocele at specific sites in my mouth. They seem to recur every few months, but are pretty small before they rupture. Mine are filled with a blueish/purple fluid and do not bleed. These are, for the most part, a minor inconvenience.

Unfortunately, I have a similar blister that forms on my bottom lip where my upper and lower lips meet. Obviously, I need to see a doctor, but do any of you know if Mucocele occur on the lips? I have a bad habit of biting my lips. My lips also get dry and peal. I guess what I'm asking is if you have been told by your doctors if Mucocele do indeed occur on the lips?

Also, what specific kind of doctor would you recommend I see? I don't want to go running to my local physician yelling, "It's a mucocele! Google said so!"

Thanks much.

I don't know if Mucocele's occur directly on the lips - they more commonly appear inside of the lip, where there is such an abundance of salivary glands to get clogged. If you can go directly to an oral surgeon, that sounds like a good bet, but you may need to get a referral from a general physician first.

Let us know how it goes!
