Mucocele under the tongue

I have been diagnosed with a mucocele under my tongue on the floor of my mouth. I was under the impression this wasn't a big deal and it has decreased in size to the point I wouldn't even know it was there. When consulting with an oral surgeon, he believes it will grow larger again and that it needs to be removed. He wants to do this under general anaesthetic which is really freaking me out. Has anyone had experience with a mucocele in this spot, had it removed, did it come back? I understand that there is a 50% chance it will return. I need help and advice!
