Well - it's over until my follow-up. I had laser surgery today. I'm a big baby when it comes to anything going on in my mouth so they gave me nitrous oxide then novacaine. The doctor started the procedure and as he was pulling, I started to feel something and he noticed so he gave me more and I was good until the end. They took some other glands around it out as well as the affected gland, but I've read that is normal. He took the mucocele out in three pieces (they were smaller than I thought they would be) and I have 4 stitches that will dissolve on their own.
All in all it wasn't a bad procedure. Once the novacaine wore off, I took an Aleve rather than the Darvocet he gave me and the pain hasn't been bad at all. I did what they said and alternated 30 minutes with ice and 30 minutes without for about 2 hours and no swelling now.
The stitches feel really weird and my lip feels heavy if that makes sense. They told me clear liquids today and for the next few days eat soft foods.
They said to start rinsing tomorrow every 2 hours with warm salt water and I could brush lightly.
I go back in 9 days for my follow-up and hopefully the biopsy results will be in. I know - I should be fine, but you never know, I guess. Everyone says I'll be fine so I should try and focus on that.
