i think i have a mucocele

For the past few days I have been freaking out because of this growing lump on my lower lip. I tell you doing some research on the web pretty much confirms i have a mucocele. I hava an appt with the doc tom morning to hopefully confirm this. In a weird wayI am glad I am not alone. I cant believe how many hits the web site has gotten with thes problem. I wish you all the best with your bump removal and the same for myself. What a strange thing to get? How does this happen? just your glands pumping out to much juice for your lips to handle?
I am by no means a doc, but I've read (and been told by my dentist) that mucoceles form after some kind of trauma to the salivary gland. If the duct of the salivary gland is damaged, it cannot release the saliva into the mouth like it normally would, and the gland itself continues to produce the same amount of saliva. The result is that you get a big pouch of saliva stuck in your lip that has to be removed. Hope this helps and good luck with your lump. :-)
