Hey, I have a mucocele. Same story, bit my lip, it grew. Tried to pop it and it didnt go away, ect.
However, when I went to the dentist, first of all, he didnt know what a Mucocele was (he is Pakistani, but really good), I called it a mucus cyst, and he disagreed. He said it was an Fibrotic Lesion with infection caused by trama (I agree with that part). Anyone heard of that?
Anyway, he prescribed an antibiotic (Amoxillin) for 7 days, and I will see what happens?
Does my doc know what he is talking about? Anyone else had antis clear it up?

Eesh. I don't know. It certainly sounds like a mucocele and antibiotics probably won't make it go away permanently, in which case hopefully he diagnoses the mucocele. I hope the antibiotics work, though! Good luck. :-)

Eh I took antibiotics and my mucocele shrank by about 90%. Then however a few days later I was still taking them and it grew in size a little more. I just popped it with a needle a few days ago and now it's smaller.
I need to keep taking the antibiotics regularly for a little bit longer.. But I just keep forgetting.

Yeah, I took the antibiotic too, and mine also shrank 90%, but within a week or two it just came back, as big as ever.

Yeah that seems like what happened. I kept taking the antibiotics and it shrank 90% but continued use resulted in the bump to return.
My mom says she gets them time to time takes about a month or two to go away.
I'm going to let it sit for 2 months before I do anything to it again. I think all the draining and poking only aggrevated it and caused it to stay longer than the usual duration.

Pretty much. Took the antis and it shrank. Swelled back up after I stopped.

Well I took my antibiotics for about a week and it's pretty much gone now. Has a little scar that I think will go away with some time but it hasn't flared up again for about 2 weeks.
Only difference this time around is I didn't aggrivate it compared to before when I would try to pop it with needles. I was also taking my antibiotics 3-4 times a day.
Well good luck I'm glad mine fixed itself without surgery. I think you should just give it some time if you're willing to wait.
