6 days after surgery and :(

I had my mucocele removed and the doctor stitched it up and everything, but the only problem is that now, after 6 days, the cut that the doctor stitched up in my mouth healed wihtout staying completely together. There is a bit of a gap on the upper part where the stitches were put. Any ideas if this will heal on its own, because food keeps getting caught in the gap. Oh, and also, when you're doctor/nurse told you not to eat salty foods, did he/she say that it was JUST because it just stung?

Here's 2 pictures of what it look like:

I think your lip will heal eventually on its own but if you want it to heal more quickly and neatly you ought to go back and let someone take a look at it. Having said that, your cut is very small compared with mine and others I've seen so in that regard, you're lucky.

As for the salt thing, I didn't get told to avoid anything so I very much doubt that it really matters.

I think it will heal on it's own but just be careful about infection. Mine was looking like yours does at first and then got infected. The Dr. said this is normal because germs, etc, will get caught in the gap that you described. In retrospect, I would have asked for antibiotics from the beginning. The tissue should fill in but infection will slow the process.
