Just had surgery. Have a few questions

I just had the surgery on my lower lip yesterday. Vertical incision with 5 stitches. Pain isn't too bad and the swelling is actually less then I expected. One thing I have noticed is that at the top of the incision where the last stitch is located the wound is filling in with this white tissue like material. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this happen. The rest of the incision is tight and together. I'm worried that something pulled apart at the top and that it will cause excessive scarring.
Sounds like its healing. It looks messy to start with but should tidy up with time.
Thanks. I'm on my 4th day since the surgery now and the general swelling on the lip has gone down. The incision itself looks more puffy and red then before but I guess this is just part of the healing. Hopefully it will go down because I can see a bump at the top of my lip where the incision ends.
I also had my surgery on Monday. The oral surgeon used the laser and stitched me up with 5 stitches as well. At the very top of my incision, I also have the "white tissue". Now that the swelling has gone down and bruising is starting to go away, the white area is starting to look like normal tissue. So I think it was just excess tissue trying to heal.
