Another term: Fibroma

Hi everyone,

Thanks for this web site! I thought this thing on my lip for the past few weeks was a canker sore, but thanks to info here, I realize it's the dreaded "mucocele" that I have. I go to the ENT doctor on the 20th and I hope to get it out and gone for good shortly thereafter.

I thought others might be interested to know that the term "fibroma" seems to also be used for this condition. (I think it sounds more socially acceptable than "mucocele," which I'm not sure how to pronounce, so I call it my "mukulele.")

I found some other lovely pictures to help others make a self-diagnosis:

Hey, this isn't as bad as having one in my nose!

Good luck, everyone!

Actually, it DOES look like fibroma is different from mucocele:

Whoops! I definitely have a mukulele, but not as big as that poor guy in the first photo!

I've also had a fibroma on my soft palate and a "fibrosed salivary gland" on my inner lip which led to a mucocele. You're right...different animals
