Mucocele Under Tounge?

First of all informative site to find! Here's my description of what I have, I believe it to be mucocele: A couple weeks ago I bit my tounge while eating, I mean hard to the point of it bleeding for about 15 min. About a week later on the underside of the tip of my tounge at approx the place where I had bit it, I noticed a bump. The bump is loosely attached to the underlying tounge tissue, is transculent in color with a white "tip" almost like a pimple. It is not painful to the touch unless I try to move it around with my finger. I am almost tempted to squeez or puncture it to get the material out but that seems like a painful proposition. After about a week it seemed to shrink and flatten out, then it seemed to come back after some nachos and beer. Also I always find myself rubbing it around my lower lip and I'm sure the constant friction causes it to flare up and not go away. Anyway I am going to have my dentist take a look. Could this be a Mucocele? Thanks

Sounds more like a minor infection of some sort. Mucoceles don't normally hurt and don't come to a white head....plus not normally ON the tongue because no salivary glands on the tongue.

I'd rinse with warm salt water several times a day for a week or so...and if it doesn't get better, go see the dentist.

Just a follow up, from other threads I have seen the possibility of a Mucocele under the tounge, which is what I believe I had. Anyhow I saw a dentist and he had no idea what it was and wanted to play it safe and do a biopsy. In the 5 days between my initial appointment and the planned biopsy it shrunk considerably to where it became a tiny bump I can barely perceive when running it over my lower lip. So after observing the shrinkage, my dentist recommended giving it another 2-3 weeks to see if it will go away completely. I am avoiding extremely spicy foods as I believe this triggered it to come back when it had flattened out before, thanks

I'd just like to add that my mucocele DID hurt when it first appeared, but once it popped the first time, the pain subsided.
