Hi all. I am trying to figure out what I have and figure you can help. First let me say that I tend to be a bit hypocondriacish and my fear, of course, is that I have oral herpes.
A couple days ago I awoke with a small blister on the inside of my bottom lip. It was clear and painless, though is could feel slightly irritated from rubbing on my bottom teeth. It shrank and dissapeared after about 24 hours, leaving a slightly sensitive spot. I thought is was gone when it suddenly re-appeared the next evening, and eventally grew larger than before. I went to bed last night and within a half hour or so it shrank and was gone by morning leaving what is now a slightly irritated spot - wouldn't really call it an ulcer and no actuall pain coming FROM it just sore from rubbing. I didn't notice any taste or anything from whatever was inside.

A side note is that about two weeks ago I accidentally clocked myself in that part of my lip. There was no actual cut at the time but I smashed my lip on the teeth and it hurt! I have read that these thing can be cause by trauma. but can there be a delay of that long between the injury and the appearance of the mucocele???

Also, I was very stressed the night it appeared, not sure if stress plays a part in mucocele.

Also, In the past I was prone to cancer sores, especially if I bit my lip or something. Theough in recent years that happens less - possibly due to better diet and exercise on my part. Could it be that??? My cancers have never been blisters, just a sore, but I seem to see reference online to people having cancers the present as a blister of some kind.

I actually had a herpselect done 6 months ago which came back negative. But as I said I tend to worry a lot and even though the blood was drawn 6 months my last sexual contact I have always feared it being incorrect.

I guess my main questions are:
Could it be a mucocele from the punch I gave myself even though it was a couple weeks ago?
Can herpes blisters appear, recede, reappear like that?

Thanks for any comments!!!!

it sounds like a mucocele. Yes it could very well be from the punch that long ago. It could take a while for the mucocele to show up after trauma. But I'd get your dentist to take a look at it and see what he or she thinks.

Thanks. I will do that asap.
The initial one went away. Left a small irritated spot but healed very quickly. It seems like there is one or two tiny ones coming up next to where the other on was. Do thay do that?
Thanks!!!
