So I've had my mucocele removed 5 days ago. The surgery itself went fine. No pain. But the sutures came apart almost right away. I had a total of 3 sutures, one of them untied itself within 6 hours, second one was ripped apart after a day. So I went back on day 3 to the ENT and she decided to remove the sutures. And she said it'll heal.
Anyway, the incision, obviously is not closed, now has a big crater covered by a white fibrinous film. The ENT said it's normal. As a matter of fact, she and the nurse said it's looking good. I was thinking, really? I would think something doesn't look right. Since day 1 I've been told to put on these antibiotic ointment on the site. So now I'm still doing it a few times a day. With the wound opened, it definitely hurts/stings when I eat, especially any type of salty food.
Has anyone experienced this white fibrinous exudate? I asked the ENT today over the phone and she said I don't need to remove the film, just let it be and apply the antibiotic ointment. It'll heal in a week or so. I'm still a little skeptical. I just hate to have my lip healed weird. Oh, and she assured me that it will heal nicely. Again, skeptical. Anyone had similar post-op experience?
