Hi, I was searching about this bump I have.
I noticed it about a week ago, and it seems to have gotten slowly a little bit bigger. It is on the bottom jaw, on the inside part of my gums. Picture it this way: you're the underside of the tongue looking out of a mouth. It's just to the right, about where the mooshy bottom mouth tissue meets the gums.
It is really small still, but noticeable: about maybe half the circumference of a pencil eraser (one on a pencil end). It is not blue, it's the same color as everything else, but it moves under the skin like it's a bubble there in a tiny spot that it can squeeze around in on my gums.
I have been smoking for roughly 3 years or so, but not often (VERY off and on but more lately) and I know that's not good enough but I am going to my GP on Tuesday for medicine to help me quit for good.
Now, I am not too worried that it's cancer or anything (even though google is really good at scaring you into thinking you have every symptom of oral cancer), but I haven't seen anything about mucocele on or near the gums here. Is that possible?
Also, do your mucocele move around under the skin? I also found info on something called a ranula that apparently is similar but said specifically it is not fixed.
I'll ask the doc for a diagnosis on Tuesday and let y'all know, hopefully (maybe) I can expand the knowledge of oral health here.
Thanks for the info, for the budding anxiety-disordered hypochondriac, this is very helpful! :D
