surgery for me - not my daughter

I had a mucocele a few years ago. It swelled, shrunk, swelled, shrunk..... It was slightly visible from the outside and it was annoying and a little painful. I had it removed by an oral surgeon under local anaesthetic. It was a bit freaky - but i survived it. HOWEVER, once the freezing wore off, I was in EXTREME pain for hours. The surgeon said i'd be fine with over the counter pain killers. I should have insisted on the tylenol 3 prescription. I took extra strength advil AND extra strength tylenol together and it didn't touch the pain. I know other people who had no trouble with pain afterward but that was my experience. About a year ago my daughter grew a mucocele - she was 7 years old at the time. Our doctor confirmed the diagnosis and said it would need to be removed - it would not go away on it's own. It didn't bother her and wasn't visible from the outside, so i left it. I didn't want her to go through what i went through. We kept an eye on it to make sure it didn't grow too big and in several months it disappeared all on it's own.
