worried

Last month my dentist diagnosed a mucocele beneath my tongue. It's small and didn't really bother me, until I became aware of it. I am not in favor of surgery, but went to see an oral surgeon on my dentist's advice. Right now a procedure is scheduled for this coming week. The surgeon also said I could wait a few months. Browsing this website has been both comforting and frightening. It's three am in NY and I've been up worried, and don't want to bother my wife. I'm over 60, and there are many questions in my mind. Laser surgery? Other non-invasive treatments? Biopsy? Would postponing this procedure cause more worry, or would I regret not looking further into alternative treatments? So far I've seen my dentist, my regular doctor, and the oral surgeon.

In my humble opinion, waiting will only make it worse. You seem like me...a big worrier, and I recommend you at least get it biopsied for peace of mind...then you can consider other treatments or just letting it be...
