this forum was helpful to me before i had this removal done so i thought id let people know how it went. i had my mucocele for about 3 months...tried the listerine, salt, and needle treatments but none were very effective only allowing temporary relief. i didnt measure the size of my mucocele but my oral surgeon said it was a little bigger than average. anyways the procedure started with 2 injections of novacain and then an incision to remove the mucocele. my oral surgeon then removed a few of the glands in that area, and sewed my lip up with 4 stitches.
the one thing i had trouble finding on this forum was how painful the surgery was. i want everyone to know that the actual surgery was PAINLESS. i felt like the surgeon wasnt even doing anything. so dont worry about the actual surgery.
it has only been 4 hours, but so far the lip looks like it has a good chance of returning to normal. my lips are just starting to regain feeling so i will try and give another post about post surgery pain.
