Well, went to my Dentist about it...and she's looking all around under my tongue, etc...and finally I told her - hey, it's about 1/2 inch down inside my lower lip...at the time is just starting to "pimple up"...she told me, well Mucocele's don't normally occur there? But every picture I've seen is lower lip, sometimes on the lip - so I think she's just a bit out of touch...
Ok - here's the story...3 weeks ago...a pimple feel under the skin...1/2 inch down inside lip 1/2 inch to the left of the center of my mouth....but end of day...larger...next day like a baloon (meaning not firm, filled with something)...that night - burst...morning I awoke to an oval shape (like the dead skin) around it...that evening, just a trace of it...morning was like it never happened...no bumps, no oval, no nothing...full day just
normal...
Next morning...small pimple under the skin...repeat...I am on my 4th cycle...I'm scheduled to go see oral doctor (I hate saying surgeon) on Wed but I am afraid that I'll be in "well mode" when I walk in to see him and have nothing to show him...hopefully he knows more about this stuff than my dentist...
My paraonia is that I'm an ex-tobacco user...although my dentist told me that my mouth looks normal and no visible signs of damage...but I still get "stoked" up anytime something is going on in my mouth...which, luckily has not been often...
Whatever is going on here...it's irritating and it seems to get irritated when I eat as the food just rubs on it...not fun...
Great web site...this place has really helped calm me...

Your situation sounds EXACTLY like mine...ex tobacco user...freaks out with anything in the mouth...constant cycle
I think it's great you're going to see an oral "doctor". Yes they have much more experience with them. Go even if it isn't in full bloom. Maybe you can make arrangements to get back in quick if/when it pops up again...plus the oral doc will give you a very thorough mouth check in view of your history.
Good luck.

Johnny,
You say my situation (in terms of cycle)/etc. is alot like yours?
I'm going on Wednesday...
Trust me, a gun to my head could not have made me to see an
Oral Specialist in the past...it's one of those people I just would
rather not see, have as a friend, or even know about...crazy isn't
it..
Anyway, yea - this is the part I think anyone using any tabacco
product today does not think about...you/me will always be at
higher risk than the general population for years to come...and
every time a change occurs in the mouth/etc. - paranoia sets in...
usually for no good reason...
Anyway - I have found no case of tumor that heals every 5-6 days...so
I'm optimistic about this...I just don't want to do the wrong thing here,
I need to get rid of this thing...but I don't want to do anything if I thought
I had a chance of it going away on it's own...
If you know anyone who needs to quit dipping...or stay quit -
www.killthecan.org or www.quitsmokeless.org
I quit using the killthecan Quit Groups...
It has saved many lives...

yeah if it was cancer it would not go away and come back, and it would be more painful as time went on.
I quit after almost 20 years of using Skoal fine cut. had a muccocele back on my soft palate by my uvula. and yes I get paranoid as well. But my ENTsaid there were no signs of cancer or even pre cancer around the area. Funny the scar where it was removed is basically a white patch, which freaked me out also. but the ENT specialist said it was normal and just the scar.
My muccocele has been gone with no flare ups for six months. I sometimes get a numb ache in or around the area a few times a day. i went back and the doctor said he could not see anything. He said once you are aware of something in your mouth, you become aware of every little ache and pain.
