I just had mine cut out yesterday. It's all swelled, a little bruised, and stitches. I guess these stories all sound the same in some way. I keep obsessively looking at it in the mirror, nervous about if it will heal correctly. I could care less about the swelling, bruises, numbness, etc. because I know all that will go away, but I'm most anxious about if I will be able to smile again, if my lip will look normal, etc. Do people have testimonies or pictures of recovered and healed mucoceles ops. That would be reassuring and helpful. I know my oral surgeon said he's done thousands of these, but I'm still anxious.

I feel the same way. there's a little part on my lip that sticks up now from the stitches. im scared it will heal like that. anyone else have this?
I just had my mucocele surgically removed 2 days ago by the oral surgeon...my bottom lip is fat and I have 4 stitches in it...the surgery was not bad...only lasted 30 minutes and I don't have a ton of pain with it. Annoying to eat and drink but hopefully it will heal quickly and I can forget about this stupid annoying thing! I have a small part that sticks up a bit on my bottom lip from where the stitches are and I am also hoping that it goes away when the swelling is down...I am going to be pissed if you can see anything after it is all done...never relized just from biting my lip hard I could have this much trouble. The only thing my doc said was to keep it clean...use mouth rinse...he said it could take about 3-4 weeks for it all to heal and feel normal again.
That little bump from the swelling and stitches went away for me after a week. My lip is a tad bit uneven, but ya know - it's way better than having a mucocele.
Also - yesterday, I was messing around with my lip (not in the area where the mucocele was) and all of a sudden the area with the scar tissue BLEW up like a balloon!! I was freaking out. It looked like another mucocele. I rinsed with some listerine and put some anitbiotic ointment on it and it went down within 2 hours, back to normal. So I better be careful.
I also talked to my dr and he said i should be massaging the scar tissue and it will soften up over time. But i'm afraid it will blow up like that again =/
