Hi

I have had a mouth blister for about 6 weeks now. It gets bigger then bursts and heals and the cycle starts all over again! However - when it heals Im always left with a tiny lump (hard lump) which is the shape of a tiny grain of rice and is whitish in colour - it is very small but Im wondering if this could be some sort of damage to the tissue in my cheek or if it's something more sinister. Has anyone else experienced this or do mucocele's tend to heal leaving nothing behind?

Thanks

I've had one that left a bump until it came back...may be the actual damaged salivary gland that is causing the problem. Ask your dentist to take a look at it...

Hi
I know this was a long time ago but I thought it would be worthwhile to update and let you know what happened - for anyone who is worried about this sort of thing at the minute.  After a few months, the blister went away by itself and the little lump underneath also seemed to clear up - there is still a tiny remnant but you cant see it - I can only feel it very slightly with my tongue.  Therefore, like most of these things it was nothing.  I dont think it was a mucocele - just a strange unexplained occurance!  The worst thing about the whole experience was my worry and it's taught me not to panic about these things!
Hope this helps

I have the same issue, but my lump is on the lower lip and is starting to be painful. Is there a cure?

No there was no cure, I basically just had to leave it alone, stop looking at it and prodding it wirh my tongue and eventually it just went away by itself.  It was there for about 3 months and typically when I got my hospital appointment it had gone away.  They were going to biopsy it but then there was no need.  The first oral doctor I saw told me it wasnt a mucocele but he had no idea what it was, however he did reassure me that it wasnt anything serious.

I have the same think under my toungue... to the right near my jaw.

It's hard, grow into a clear bubble in 3-10 days and then pops... it's then white, like the rice thing you described...  the cycle has been continuous for over a year...

Dentist cauterized, really well... but did nothing... I prod at it alot... and am always pushing on it with my tongue....

I'm going to try your approach and leave it alone for about a months and see if it goes away....

Any wone have any info to offer about this?

I'm pretty sure that's a mucocele. I'm experiencing something similar as well. About two months or so ago I had one. The clear bubble would grow, pop overnight, and grow again. I just left it alone and let it do it's thing. This cycle happened for a while until about a week or two ago I thought it was gone. It's back again. I'm pretty sure it won't go away, but I really don't want surgery. It's really best just to leave it alone. Don't puncture it, and even though it's tempting, try not to tongue or suck on it. It worked for me for a while, and the mucocele never grew into something worse. The worst it got was just a clear bubble.

I'm a 15 year old boy and is worried if this lump my lip is something like an HIV I've read all your stories but it's weird how it happened after I just had sex. And I have braces so I everytime I rub my lip or talk it rubs agains my braces getting caught or irritated it's got bigger since I've been bothering it , I really just want it gone I don't wanna wait for months and years for it to finally disappear

I'm not an expert, but I don't think it's HIV. Sometimes mucoceles just appear. Something must've happened to block a salivary gland, and now a lump is there because spit and mucus formed from the gland has no where to go. Mucoceles are mildly common for people who wear braces, or so I've read on a website. I would suggest surgery if you're really bothered by it and need a final solution to getting rid of your mucocele.
