Hey guys! First let me say I'm so glad to have found this site! I'm hoping maybe someone can help me with my problem. So probably about a year ago I felt a bump on the roof of my mouth towards the back of my throat (no pain). Where the hard and soft pallets meet. (It's actually located on the soft pallet) Kind of ignored it for a few months. I would do the occasional scratch to pop it then, it would just come back. I finally went to the doctor and had it removed. Felt great! But right after it healed, it came right back! Same place a little bigger. So off to the doctors I went again! He said this time he would take a little more. Same deal! Healed and came right back a little bigger again. This time with a small tiny bump right next to it. By this time I was pissed and went back one last time. This time he took a lot bigger piece and went deeper. The results keep coming back as a non typical saliva gland blockage, but with all the characteristics of one. So here I sit again. Bump back in my mouth. A little bigger than before sometimes it looks like a clear bubble other times it’s the same color as my mouth with a white pin size tip. I went to the doctor again yesterday and he seems confused on why it keeps coming back. He said he would put a call into the pathologist and tell them to review the slides again. He said if it still comes back the same... He had no choice but to take it out once again.

The question I have is 1) why is it coming back. 2) Why is it coming back bigger 3) When the results were sent off, do they look for everything that it could be or do they just look for the typical cancer signs? I'm just worried they are just looking for one thing, and finding out its not that, and not looking into what it could be, even though it has had 3 different samples from me.

And of course the more looking into I do online, the more upset I become. Its either cancer or some type of wart according to searches I've made. But if it were any of those, don't you think the pathologist would have notice them, and said something?!

Thanks again in advance!!!!

Mine was roughly in the same place...when they took it out, it came back...had it taken out again....came back, but then went away.

My best guesses to your questions...

1 and 2) Either they aren't getting it all, or are damaging other salivary glands when removing the first bump. Tough to tell

3) My experience...yes...the very first thing they look for is malignancy

Who's been doing your work ?? An oral surgeon or an ENT ? If not an oral surgeon, I'd recommend getting a second opinion/consult with one. An oral surgeon did mine, and he warned that if it came back he'd be reluctant to take more out because that area of the mouth/throat has a lot of effect on talking and swallowing.

Thanks for the reply! An oral surgeon has been doing all of it. And seems to know what he is talking, until he looks at me all confused when he sees it keeps coming back. I think I'm pretty much done getting it taken out, I just can't deal with the pain of having it heal anymore. The only times it seems to get really irritated is when I eat something with a big acid base. That's when it will flare up, and within a few hours will go back down (but not fully away). Its just the matter of how upset I get when it gets flared up. It makes me not want to eat anything, only because I don't want to deal with it!
