So my story starts somehow like this. I was having lunch with my family in what seemed to be a peaceful, tranquil, lunch and suddenly I bite hard on my lip and discovered a little bump on my lip. I had the habit of bitting my lips at night while sleeping. So I started researching on bump on my lower lip. All of this cancer sites appeared. I Mean Im truly a hypochondriac so oh my jesus! I drove my mother and sister insane for about 5 days. After quite a while I went to see a dentist and she recommended for me to see an oral surgeon. Of course since she was part of a big dental company she insisted on me having it removed. I mean she couldn't be any meaner. I mean after that I remembered I had seen your site. and so I went to see a friend of ours who is also a dentist. she said it was definitely a mucocele. she said to leave it alone and it might go away on its own. She said it will be fine if I stopped touching it. However if it didn't go away I could just have it removed and do a biopsy just as precaution. Im terrified of surgery. Its my 20th b-day and Im having to deal with a stupid mucocele. I need advice Im so sad and depressed over this darn thing. I mean just the idea of surgery and biopsy sicks me out.

I've had two removed surgically my friend...and weighing everything, it was well worth the inconvenience. That little bastard is gonna drive you crazy, and unless you're really lucky, it won't go away without being removed.

Like any "surgery", they'll scare you with a lot of possible bad things that could happen (lip numbness, scarring, etc)...but hopefully you'll have an understanding oral surgeon (my experience are these guys are very understanding...they see these things all the time)

I wouldn't sweat the biopsy either...good thing to have. I had dipped snuff for over 20 years, so I was REALLY freaked about oral cancer...but being young, the odds on that for you are incredibly slim...

Good luck...I recommend you go forward.
