MY 4 YEAR OLD MIGHT HAVE ONE

Wow, I am so glad that I came across this forum. I think my 4 year old daughter might have a mucocele after she developed a cyst like thing on the inside of her lower lip way back in October. At first, I thought it was just a blister she had gotten since she had fallen around that time and hit her lip, but then the "blister" just wouldn't go away.  It looked so painful but she said it didn't hurt and it is about the size of a small pea.  After she had had it for a month or 2, I looked it up on the web and self diagnosed it as a mucocele.  Now after coming across this forum and reading about hemangiomas and all, it is freaking me out.  I haven't yet taken my daughter to the dentist or even her own doctor about it becuz I thought it was something that would just go away on its own.  Sadly, it has been 3 months and is still there but hasn't grown in size or anything.  We will be seeing her pediatrician this week and I'm curious to know what she is going to suggest it is, how to treat it, etc.  My question is: Does anyone know how common it is to see these in children?

well...that's certainly a good causitive factor.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ped just scratches his/her head.....I'd recommend taking her to the dentist instead....

oh i'm a child and had one. i'm the only one i know, so probably about one in 50 children have one. I got it removed. i wouldn't recommend getting it removed to a 4-year-old. because i'm 11 and it hurts. your daughter would have trouble eating, talking, and could take the stitches out accidentally. one to 4 stitches are the most stitches you could get. hope this helps.
