I need advice for my 8 year old.
My son has had a reoccurrance of a mucoclele 3 times in the last 10 months. The first 2 times we had it removed by laser. First removal had no stitches... second had stitches. The 3rd surgery was just 2 weeks ago and it was cut open and taken out again with stitches. He missed 4 days of school because this was so invasive and his lip was so extremely swollen. It is already beginning again. We wait about 3 months between surgeries to pray it will disappear:( This last one was about the size of a dime on his lower lip and was tall enough to cover 2 bottom teeth when you looked at him. I watched it grow and grow and felt so helpless.
Does anyone out here have any other advice that has truly worked for them? We are sooooo frustrated .....Listerine, Salt, I'll try anything at this
Sadly nothing much works except surgery and as you see they can reoccur on the surgery site. I've had the same and have now given up getting them removed. I only have a small one now and will just leave it alone.
I'm so sorry for you and your son. I just had my second surgery and it's pretty depressing when one surgery doesn't get rid of the problem. If this last surgery didn't take care of the problem I don't know what i'll do either because I don't want another surgery. I'm surprised that they've done 3 surgeries in 10 months because my oral surgeon wouldn't do my second surgery until my first surgery had 6 months to heal. I really don't know what you could do besides maybe looking for another oral surgeon and getting someone else's opinion on another option if there is any. Good luck.
