Carmex to the rescue!

So after living with my mucocele for about a month and seeing it getting bigger, I decided to see if carmex (the gel kind) would have any effect on it. I started massaging in the lip balm onto my mucocele about 2-3 times a day to see what would happen. After the first day, I noticed a difference in my mucocele.

The lump actually started to shrink! I was suprised to see that carmex actually did something. The mucocele reduced in size greatly. It went from about a 7x7mm (floppy, soft, waterballoonish) to about 3x3mm (firmer, feels more like a pimple than balloon). It also developed a white, rather rigid covering (kinda leathery). A few days later the lump popped on its own! A small amount of fluid drained from the mucocele. I was so excited that I might have found a homeopathic cure for it! But my hopes dwindled . . .

The mucocele did NOT drain completely and did NOT fully recede. However, I am glad to say that Carmex has kept me sane in light of the lump. The mucocele remains around 3x3mm while applying lip balm about twice a day, and keeps a somewhat leathery cover on it. It does not bother me when eating or talking like when it was a 7x7mm behemoth.

In conclusion, Carmex is good treatment for mucoceles and keeps you sane if you can't have it removed or remove it yourself, but it is not a cure (at least for me).

Just wanted to give my experience . . . Thanks
