The top is turning white, it is very tender, skin is rough yet thin.  I might have an appointment with an oral surgeon today, if they have any cancellations.  Otherwise, it won't be until next Thursday (4-2) before they can get me in.

I have attached photos, can anyone tell me if it creates a bigger problem situation to deal with, by waiting too long?  I mean, what is the worst that can happen by waiting too long?

Is this indeed a mucocele?  It happened by biting, so I would thing so.

Wow...that's....ugly  :D

That doesn't look like any mucocele I've seen...but remember I'm not a medical person.

That must be awfully hard to "ignore"

I would definitely have that looked at by an oral surgeon...not that I think it's anything serious since it came on pretty quickly...but it's got to be a major annoyance and worry.  It may very well be some kind of infection or trauma from the biting incident.

Well last night it opened and stuff came out.  A couple days ago I put raw garlic on it, left it on about 10 minutes, maybe too long, it really burned the skin.  Well, I paid for it, very very tender next day.  Yesterday it hurt to talk, and then last night it opened on it's own.  Maybe the garlic idea was a good one after all...drew possible poison or infection to surface(?)

I have an appt to have it removed next week.  The DR wants to cut it out, send it to lab, but he does think blocked saliva gland.  He said they take out several in that area at the time.

I am thinking of staying on eating raw garlic and see how it progresses this week.  (Probably not putting it directly on the sore, though.)  Rinsed with salt water last night and it seems to be growing shut.  Now, I realize it might come back......but thinking about waiting on the surgery.

Anyway, it does feel ALOT better now that the stuff inside has been released and it is flatter.  (Not wanting to be too gross here, but the stuff that came out was not runny or watery like liquid, but more like a thin, stringy "snot"  (Sorry.)  I wonder if that is typical of what is in them.  It was clear, though, NOT white or yellow.

Garlic IS a natural antibiotic...
The Dr did not put me on anything, but he did look at me a little strangely.  lol

Yikes. It is ugly, but it still looks like a mucocele to me. Interesting tactic with the garlic. Please keep us updated!

Sounds like the garlic chemically burned the surface of the lump. The burn softens the tissue and eventually the pressure behind wins and the lump can expell whatever is inside.

Similarly, someone else on this forum spoke about using alum on a mucocele. This acts in a similar way to burn the tissue.

This doesnt fix the prob longterm, just releases the pressure.
