Ok, here's my story.  About 4 years ago I noticed a small clear bump in my lower lip that would erupt and recur frequently.  Eventually it stopped erupting and became a small hard bump. I was told to see an ENT dr.  At first I had no idea what this thing was.  It was more of an annoyance than anything. At the time it wasn't visible.  Anyway the ENT told me it needed to be surgically removed. It turned out to be pretty traumatic for me.  The local anesthesia made my lip blow up into a golf ball which lasted the better part of the day.  My lip was very sore afterward for a few days which is to be expected. A few weeks later a noticed a small clear bump again!  I thought please don't let this be another mucocele. Well it was. And it came back with a vengeance. It was 3x the size of the original and this time it was noticable to others when talking and smiling.  It's really embarrasing for a young woman.  Gross!!  Anyway I went back to have it removed again, and this time the Dr. took out more glands. To this day about 4 years later, I still have numbness in the area. The initial scarring in the area took about a few months to heal.  Now you can barely see any scar.  The only problem (besides numbness), is that my lip didn't regain it's natural shape.  It's not really noticeable except to me, so it's not too bad.
Ok, now about 2 months ago I noticed a mucocele growing right at the edge of the old scar.  NOOOOO!! Not again please.  I'm really scared to get surgery again because I fear that my lip will really be deformed.  My mucocele now is closer to the top edge of my lip, so I worry that stitching will really make my lip uneven.  Has anyone had any experience with a Plastic surgeon?

I have the exact problem that you do. The removal of my first mucocele left my bottom lip disproportional, not that noticeable but bothersome. I was told by my oral surgeon that I need to wait at least  a year for it to heal before I can even consider plastic surgery. The numbness can be annoying but I'm told it is short lived, nerve endings will reform and you will regain feeling in your lip in about a year. I am going to look for a good cosmetic surgeon to try and make my lip look more like it did before the operation when it has been a year.
