Sore Lump Back of Mouth
Hey and thanks for your time.
Noticed a lump or little bump that seemed to have grown on the side of where my jaw connects to my skull, just behind my molars on the left hand side of my mouth around 6 or so months ago. Never really thought much of it, cos it never really hurt, plus my first molar came through that side, so i just put it down to that irritating it. Lately i've had days where it hurts a little but eases as the day goes, but the past few days i have had an annoying pain since waking up rite till i go to sleep in the area of the lump and around the surrounding areas such as gum etc. Today i noticed the growth coming more visable, as at the start it wasn't, and it seems to have a rougher surface on it than the normal feeling of the inside mouth skin, and that had only happened of the past week or two. I did notice a small white patch today however looking again i can't seem to find it, as it was right up in the corner of the connection between my jaw and skull. I have an appointment with my GP on Monday the 10th of August and a trip to my dentist on Friday the 14th of August.
I've looked and looked and looked for some answers and similar stories, but i keep thinking the worst. I am only 19, have barely smoked (only when drunk but not for months and months now can't stand the things!).
Any advice and words would be much appreciated as it seems to be all i can think about and i'm constantly stressing all day long :(
Thank You.
Hello Deaves:
I know how you must feel because I get that way, and I am sure that most of us in this fourm has freaked out when something is out of the ordinary for us. You will be more reassured once you go to the dentist. In the meanwhile, if you haven't, try some home remedys such as keeping your mouth rinsed out. Try some peroxide. Be sure to mix it well with water. Or if you are a listerine person, try that. Try some oral gel. Try the liquid kind. Also, try to avoid spicy, sugary or acidty foods. They might irritate it.
Hopes this helps you. Try not to worry too much. I know that's easier said than done though. When I worried crazy, I would do one of my favorite hobbies and that would take my mind of things for a while. Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks for the response mate, the pain seems to have eased a little as i have tried eating on the other side of my mouth the majority of the time and trying to give it some rest. I'll take your advice with the foods to stay clear of and just really want to get to the doctor which is only a few days away now and then my dentist which is a few days after that. Really quite worried still but i told myself today there are sooo many different things it could be and that i shouldn't worry unless i get some bad news, till then i guess there is no need to worry. But its still hard!
Thank you again RGL and will keep you all posted on what my doctor and dentist says.
Mmm...had my appointment with my GP about 20 mins ago. He called and arragned an OPG x-ray for me tomorrow. Not all that comforting :( But i suppose its hard to tell what something is by just a touch and look. On closer inspection it is generally the same pinky colour to the rest of my mouth and never bleeds. So thats an up. But it has had an annoying pain the last few weeks, not overally sore just bloody annoying! After x-ray tomorrow, i go back to see him in a few days on Friday in the morning, then my dentist in the afternoon.
Will be an interesting, and extremely stressful few days..
Good Luck Deaves! Let us know what happens!

doctor said it could be some kind of muscular or soft tissue problem since nothing showed on the x ray.
cheers for your support rgl
