Yep, I got a Mucuscele. Had it 4 years ago for 6 months, and went away when I left it alone (it was one that kept rupturing). It reuccured (pea sized) one month ago and I tried to puncture, bad idea, it got inflamed. Went to the doctor and got it checked out, and the doctor called it on the spot, mucuscele.

I got it cut out today. My lip is only slightly inflamed. I'm in the Army and they had 6 dentist and assisstants getting trained by watching me get my lip cut open, and doing first-time sutures (8). The chief dentist said the saliva gland was 30% bigger than any they have seen before. They removed the saliva gland, and now I have a large abcess where my gland used to be under my lip, and when I close my mouth you can see my teeth on that side.

The doctor says the fat tissue will return to fill the divit/abcess in my lip. Has anybody else had this problem, and does the tissue return to normal.

Thanks,

Derek

28 hours after surgery. Very minor swelling. I've got 8 stitches. I took one vicoden at the first hour, and about 4 800 mg motrin (spaced out) to keep the swelling down. I also sucked on popsikcles last night to keep it iced, possibly why i dont have much swelling.
I was seen by the dentist today, for a check up. No pain. No bleeding. I've even eaten food other than soup. I dont think I'm gonna need the rest of the vicodin. Doesn't sound like alot of the horrer stories. Still have that dang divit in my lip, though. Came from removing the lima bean size gland out of my lip. The dentist still swears it will fill in though.

Day 5 of recovery. Still have 6 of the 8 stitches intact. 2 days til the doc takes them out. My lip is recovering, still a slight divit but I'm not missing half a lip anymore. It might recover faster when the stitches come out. Get tingling sensations which I think are the nerves reforming. Not so bad right now.
