Home treatment for mucoceles that works every time

So After reading all these post I still don't understand what should be expected when Alum is put on a non ruptured Mucocele. Should I poke it with a needle, I tried popping it by squeezing it, but it wouldn't work. I've put Alum on it for 3 days now and nothing has happend except the tip of the Mucocele has turned white and raw, but no liquid seems to seep out. Most people here speak of applying Alum and then they talk about a crater. I don't get it, is the mucocele already gone and in the form of a crater?

I just want to say that thanks to this site I got rid of my mucocele using alum. I had viciously bit my lip something like 5 times in a space of two days for some freak reason; the resulting trauma caused a mucocele to form. I thought I would wait it out since I had had something similar before that was lower on the inside of my mouth but had hardly bothered me. With that one I popped it and it disappeared after that. But with this latest one, I popped it twice and it grew back. So after researching here and finding out about alum, I decided to try it out instead of going for surgery. I live in Germany, so I had to go to a pharmacy to buy some alum crystals, 20 g for €1.20. I popped the mucocele again and put alum on it using a cotton pad and held it there for 15-20 minutes and tried to do that every two hours or so, not very strictly though; in the beginning I would wash my mouth out with Listerine, but later on I simply cleaned off the alum with alcohol. The alum stung a bit on the wound but it was tolerable. The thing is that you have to be consistent because that's what pays of with this home remedy. A crater similar to the skin of a wart formed at the top of the mucocele and it hardened a bit; I found that it was filling up again because the alum wasn't getting deep enough. The alum apparently eats away at the skin by keeping it dry. I popped the new growth again and just kept putting alum on it and trying to make sure that the hole from popping would stay open using the alum so that it wouldn't fill up again. I mainly chewed a hole open but I also used a needle sterilized with alcohol. The mucocele got flatter and harder with the alum and didn't fill up again after that third pop, much to my relief. I put on the alum a few more times until I decided that it definitely wouldn't fill any more, then simply let it heal for a week or so. It's been about two weeks now and it's completely gone now. The alum really did the job, no doctor's visit, no surgery, just a euro and a little bit of work to regularly apply the alum, that was it for me. Thanks so much for the info here. My advice is to definitely try alum out first before you consider going to a doctor.

I'm actually a kid myself looking onto the site with my mom and I absolutely HATE HATE HATE surgery. I never go for the quick fix but I'd rather put a spice on my lip I can't pronounce than have a hole lasered into it. So I read through all the positive comments and figure I'ma go ahead and try it (though my mom is afraid it will come back soon like some of the first posters), I might post back soon to tell everyone the results if it's positive...if I don't forget xD But thanks so much for the advice!!! Nice post friend. One of my relative is suffering from mucocele. He has tried so many home remedies but he is not able to treat it anyway. I am going to tell him about this remedy. I hope it will work for him. Thanks for your remedy friend.

Can someone tell me what alum does to a mucocele that hasn't ruptured? Just as another previous post says, it doesn't seem to do anything. How long until it does something?

For this website's purposes, let's just call me JARED, so anyone who wants to can track my progress. i developed a cold sore on my inner bottom lip about 6 weeks ago. after it went away, it left this large bump, which I've had before, and they've gone away on their own before too. but this time after it developed, i kept biting it on accident while eating, so i think i somehow halted its healing process. 6 weeks later i have what ive discovered is a mucocele, i dont even know how to pronounce that word. anyway ive been stressing out about this, and i do not want to get surgery. so i saw this treatment, and yesterday i rushed to buy some alum from the spice section of the grocery store, and a bottle of listerine. last night i applied alum on a wet piece of paper towel and held it to my mucocele for 15 minutes. after that, i threw the paper towel away and immediately rinsed with listerine for two minutes, concentrating the listerine on my lower lip. it appeared to get smaller, but my lip may have just swollen from holding the alum in place for so long. this morning i checked, and it appeared to still be smaller, though not significantly. so i put some more alum on, for fifteen minutes just now, and followed by rinsing with the listerine, concentrating on my lower lip. maybe my lip has swollen even more, i dont know, because the mucocele seems to be getting even smaller. i am going to continue this treatment for the next week, and will track my progress with anyone here that is as panicked as i am. what i believe is happening is that i am speeding up the healing process of the mucocele, and i have NEVER BROKEN IT WITH ANY SHARP OBJECT, and i do NOT recommend anyone else here does that. follow the treatment, and if it doesn't work, which it should if you do it right..., then talk to someone about surgery. if you cut it yourself, you may make it be ingrained there forever. for your sake, just stick to the treatment and then if it doesnt work go see someone. dont let this thing ruin your life. anyway i will post back here a few times and let anyone that is interested know my mucocele's progress. remember, for this site's purposes, i am JARED, so look for that name in future posts.

has anyone had laser surgury for mucocele removal that has worked for a period of time? biminigirl

ive recently had a mucocele, i had it for about a good month and was getting really worried about it, so i got it checked out. turned out it was mucocele and the doc said it could go away on its own or get surgery, i decided to go with this home remedy because it was obviously not going away by itself and read a lot about the surgery and quite frankly didnt want it. i put alum powder on it twice for about 10 minutes a time then grabbed a tac cleansed it by putting peroxide on it and popped that sucker. squeezed the mucus right out and its been gone ever since. be sure to rinse your mouth every hour forsure if not more with a good antibacterial mouthwash.

Just a quick question....I've got a small mucocele, with a white pus-filled top that occaisionally bursts and flows (you all know the drill), with a small hard lump underneath that's inside the lower lip. I want to try this alum technique. Regarding the hole-poking with a needle....am I supposed to poke the TOP of the thing, just to burst it? Or am I supposed to poke INTO THE LIP where the small hard lump is, to let that drain? The reason I ask is because whenever the thing bursts, it does decrease in size temporarily as the stuff drains out (fairly quickly, actually)--but the small hard lump part below the surface never goes away. Is that where I'm supposed to be attacking, or is the idea just to keep the top of it open? Thanks!
