Is this a mucocele? PICTURE included
Hello,
Last year I continually got a lump in my mouth, that would come up and then disappear again on a regular basis. I went to the doctor, who didnt know what it was, so ran a load of blood tests which all came back clear. Since then I have been lump free, but recently it has started coming up again, in the same place, with about a 2 week gap in between bursts. I have noticed that when I am stressed I rub my tongue around the inside of my mouth, and as soon as a small lump appears I continually feel with my tongue. Could this be the cause of it if it is a mucocele?
I have also tried to pop it, which I know is a bad idea, and it has just bled and oozed clear fluid, but didnt really go down in size.
Picture below, is this a mucocele?
Thanks
No its not a cold sore, its inside my lip, and I've never had a cold sore before so I dont have the virus.
hi, yes, that does look like a mucocele. same spot mine was .... had it removed by a surgeon last week.
... also... when you have one removed and they take the salivary gland.. the surgeon will look for what they call "compromised" glands and take them also, but sometimes, the incision further irritates and blocks them so you end up with another.
The surgeon said, these post op mucoceles, are minor minor procedures to remove... not like the original mucocele..
