Recurrence Months Later??
I have been dealing with a mucocele under my tongue for almost a year now. I initially saw an oral surgeon back in March. I got the mucocele removed at the end of March with a laser, and it was a very superficial. About a month later it returned so I got it removed again, in May. This time they used the laser and went a little bit deeper. Well, less than 3 weeks later it returned. So in June they finally decided to make a huge incision this time using a laser and scalpel. They stitched it up and less than 2 weeks later it returned! At this point I was beyond frustrated! I did a lot of research and read about mucoceles occuring under the tongue and being linked to the glands of Blandin-Nuhn. I went for my last surgery in August, and this time they decided to make a super large incision and just take out as much tissue as they could. Well my tongue looked super deformed but it healed nicely. Now, 4 months later I have a lump on the top of my tongue, which is scar tissue, that is not that noticeable. About a week ago I was feeling the same old symptoms I had before my mucocele would form. I get a lot of pulling sensations in my tongue mostly on the side and just weird sensations that are not pleasant. I thought maybe its just the nerves, but now I have a little circle, and it is similar to when my mucocele would break. It is a little circle that is exaclty in the same location. My dentist told me its probably a blister from stress or lack of vitamin C, but this is the same dentist that told me it was a blister last time and proceded to burn it off and break it, only to make it worse! I have never in my life had a blister under my tongue and even in the same location as my mucocele. Anyway, I still have pain in my tongue and the little circle looks like its trying to heal, which means if it is a mucocele it will start to fill up soon. I am unsure if this is a mucocele or not, and I do not want to make an appointment with the oral surgeon until I have a bubble. Any ideas what this might be?
Thanks
