Mucocele Starting to Hurt?

I've had this blister for about 2 weeks now and I thought it was going to turn into a cancer sore but I've had many of those and I know this is not one. Today it grew so big it's driving me crazy. It's inside my lip where my lip and gums meet.  But it's so big it's rubbing my teeth and I can feel it whether I move my lips or not.  I've done the research and based on the pictures and descriptions I think I have a Mucocele. But here's my question, it's starting to hurt tonight (whenever I rub my teeth on it or touch it with my tongue). I looked in the mirror and and I can see a little area on the side of it that looks torn. Does this mean it has burst? Or is it probably a cancer sore? I'm thinking about the listerine but not sure based on everyone's responses. I don't have dental insurance so I won't be going that route right now.  Not sure what to do.  See an ENT?  What are the odds of it being malignant?  And if I do need surgery do they usually put you to sleep for it?

All I can think is that I have 2 kids (ages 2 & 4), a husband who just had hernia surgery, it's almost Christmas and I don't have time for this!!!!  But it's sounding like the home remedies are temporary fixes.

Any advice?

Jenn....see an oral surgeon  (you may need a dentist referral...ask)  Oral surgeon can probably bill it thru your medical insurance..he did for mine.  It's probably hurting because of the irritation from your teeth and tongue.  Doesn't sound like a canker sore, because they usually settle into their little painful "pit" by now.  Because it got so big so fast, don't think it's malignant, but the oral surgeon will biopsy it as part of the procedure.
