my mucocele is sometimes hard or soft, is this normal?

so, i havent had surgery or anything but 2 or 3 months ago, i discovered a mucocele on my lower lip. ive had them before when i was 11 - 13 and for 3 years i havent had one until now...
    Sometimes, it gets really stiff, and on other days it gets really soft and movable... is this normal? also, does waiting to long to go to a professional make it worse?
 i use mouthwash on a regular basis so i was wondering if it irratates the mucocele even more...
    There are also days when it swells up a little then swells down.. am i biting it when im sleeping? is that why it keeps on swelling up and down?

Ive seen pictures of mucoceles to be huge so, im kiiinda freaking out right now :)
