Stressed out by your mucocele??

Hello All!

RGL Here!  I have been away for a while but I am back!  I will say, this is one of the most informative, supportive forums that I have been to.  I found this forum this past summer, when I discovered I too had a mucocele.  After my trip to the oral surgeon, my mucocele has stayed away.  That was back in July 2009.  The surgeon didn't have to remove anything.  It happened to go away on its own.  I understand though, a lot of mucocele sufferers aren't that lucky.  You start to stress.  You worry your hair out and bite your nails.  You just completely freak out!  I know.  I've been there.

During my whole mucocele incident, I had to find a way to try to relax and stop stressing.  Stressing adds another whole list of health complications.  To get some of that worry off of your mind, I recommend www.release-stress-now.com.  They have a lot of information on ways to alleviate stress from worry.  Being a member of this forum, I thought I would share that with you all because I was stressing big time and found this website to be helpful.  It might help alleviate your mucocele worry just a bit and help your mental state.  Hope this helps!

Take Care All!

I wanted to add my experience as well to others. I have done a lot of research and concluded that it was mucocele that I had. Had it for 2 months. Tried everything, canker sore solutions...brushing teeth more often, flossing...it seemed to go down then up. Until I came across a forum that told me to stay away from tartar control toothpastes and an ingredient that most all tooth pastes have called SLS sodium lauryl sulfite. Its actually an inactive ingredient in tooth pastes. Anyway I went to the drugstore and found what seems to be the only toothpaste and doesn't have SLS called biotene. Let me tell you after using that I noticed immediate relief and improvement. I also purchased the biotene mouth wash. Its actually for dry mouth and since mucocele has to do with salivary gland issues it makes sense why this toothpaste works. I have to say now after a week of using this product it has gone away on its own....I now have my normal bottom lip back and can kiss my girlfriend passionately again. If you have this condition, I encourage you to use this toothpaste. I also drank a lot of water through out the day. I hope this will help someone out there that has been searching on this topic and how to get rid of it without surgery. I know it can be stressful. thank you!

I've had several mucoceles and I know just how stressful they can be. I always wanted to punch the doc when he said, don't worry about it! ...like it was not a big deal. In a way I know there are far worse things a human can be put through but when you have an open sore that drips gooey fluid on your bottom lip 24/7 it really does play on you quite a bit, as well as the social aspect of people not understanding what you have and looking at you all weird as if you've got the plague! I do however tend to agree that not thinking about it can help to a degree, such as the remembered wellness techniques used or positive thinking. I kinda sit on the fence when it comes to stuff like that, but it cant hurt, anymore than it does already, to try to stop thinking about your mucocele and keep telling yourself that you will get better.

Hi,

I totally agree that worrying about your mucocele will only drive you insane.  And others really don't understand unless they have been through it themselves.  My husband and sister thought I was crazy because I started freaking out about it.  When I found this forum, it was kinda calming because I found others who felt the same way as I did about some bump in my mouth.  Knowing that others experienced what I did was comforting and relaxing.  I also learned a lot from this forum.  So whatever I learn new about mucoceles, or if I can ease someones mental state a little bit, I will help!
