Last night I felt something on my lower lip. I didn't think anything of it. This morning I woke up and it was much bigger and annoying. My first thought was that it might be a wart or a zit or something. But it doesn't look like either based on a short google image search.

Maybe you can tell me. It's really clear looking. Here is a picture

UPDATE: 30 minutes later.

I must have accidentally bitten into it or something because it's now deflated. I still slightly feel it but it's pretty much flat now and not nearly as annoying. Here is a new picture:

Hello Roxics:

That looks like a mucocele to me, but you should go to your dentist to get it comfirmed.  Do you remember biting your lip?  Mucoceles can come from some kind of trauma, such as biting your lip.  Mucoceles are most common on the bottom lip, but can occur anywhere in your mouth.

I had what they call a superficial mucocele, which can appear on the roof of your mouth.  I think it was the kind of toothpaste I was using.  I had my mucocele back in the summer.  I was getting married and wanted to beef up my smile, so I was using a lot of toothpaste with a lot of crap in it like tartar contol, whitening, and all that crap.  My dentist told me that sometimes, toothpaste with a lot of crap in it can cause superficial mucoceles.  I am also a salsa freak! I eat a lot of tortilla chips, so I could have stuck myself in the roof of my mouth with a chip and didn't realize it.

At any rate, while you get an appointment with your dentist, you can try some stuff.  Don't burst it.  If it bursts on its own, use some peroxide.  Apply it with a Q-tip.  Try some evening primrose oil.  Others in this forum have tried it as well as myself and it seems to work pretty good.  Get tissue or some gauze.  Get the evening primrose oil pills.  Burst one of those babies and saturate the tissues or guaze and place over the mucocele before you go to bed.  Do this every night.  Give it a try and let us know what happens!  Good Luck!

Thank you , yes it burst on it's own. I didn't even feel it burst. I just suddenly realized it wasn't annoying me anymore and checked to see if it was still there and it was gone.

Come to think of it, I did have some tortilla chips at work yesterday. Maybe I stuck myself as well. lol.
