Bit my lower lip, now have what I think is a mucocele

Reading through the forums, decided to post this. I bit my lip chewing gum about 3 weeks ago, more than once. I noticed swelling in the bit area and then noticed what appeared to be a bump that was infected (raised etc). I popped it a few times only to have it come back and swell up. I decided to go so my Doctor who referred me to an ENT (seeing him today). Since Thursday of last week I have been using evening primrose oil, applying it 2 - 3 times a day. Initially the lump got bigger, I left it alone and kept applying EPO, it then decreased in size significantly, only to find it increased in size yesterday, after eating semi-spicy food. Very discouraging to say the least. I suspect I damaged some saliva glands as a result of biting my lip. I think EPO works great, but I would have expected to see more of a permanent response to using it rather than having the thing puff back up again.

Any advice on home remedies for similar situations such as this one?

Hi I have had over a dozen of those annoying Mucoceles. I have actually had 3 of them removed surgicaly. I still get them today but now i know how to get rid of them without involving surgery. As soon as i feel or see one starting I will hold hydrogen peroxide in my mouth as i brush my teeth. Not only does it get rid of the Mucoceles, but it also whitens your teeth. The first time i tried this i had a surgery booked 2 weeks later. The lump in my mouth was huge. I cancelled the appointment about 7-8 days later. Just dont swallow the Peroxide.
