Fed up and went for it!
So I got my first mucocele about a month ago, and after not being able to stop biting, draining, and fiddling with it, I decided to do something about it.
I have no medical or dental insurance to speak of, nor the means to afford either in the future, so with a bottle of listerine, heat treated and alcohol soaked exacto knives, a basic understanding of lip anatomy, and some ice and whiskey for the pain, I dove in head first.
I'm fairly certain what I ended up removing was the source of the problem, as when I cut it out it was firm, painless, and fairly translucent, but Im also pretty sure I took out a chunk of my salivary gland too. Now I've read that sometimes the gland needs to be taken down to get rid of the problem completely anyways, and while I'm still in a minor amount of pain, Im 2 days off the attempt and no regrowth to speak of, only minor swelling and the wound healing over. My question is from the sound of how I went about it, what was removed, and the aftermath, does it sound like I might have performed a successful self removal?
