Just had my surgery

Hello everyone,

I just had it removed. I did not feel a thing as my lip was very numb with the local anesthetic. Although the mucocele seemed quite large to the touch, I asked to look at it once it had been removed and it looked pretty small. A lot of it was saliva, the surgeon said. Anyway, I feel relieved it is no longer there and it is locked up in a box somewhere. My lip was incredibly swollen after surgery and the bit which had been operated on looked really white as if there was no blood circulating in it, almost dead really. I looked like the perfect Halloween monster, I should have gone trick or treating I would have got a lot of sweets!
I am starting to feel a bit of pain but for now it is bearable. I took a couple of paracetamols (I can't knock myself out with anything too strong sadly as I am breastfeeding) and will see how the night goes.
Will write more tomorrow my muco-friends,
Lucie

Update: day following the surgery.... It hurts a bit more just took more paracetamols, but it's bearable. My lip is much less swollen. Look forward to it being back to normal though and not stinging!

Day 2 post surgery: not much pain anymore. My lip is still swollen but not as much. Feels a bit dry and weird. I still find it hard to eat properly and have to eat on the side where there are no stitches and with a small spoon. Can't really smile much. Things seem to be improving touch wood...

That's great you got yours removed! I hope it heals all right, hang in there! Keep us posted on how things go! P.S. foods in stick form, such as mozzarella sticks and stick pretzels, are easier to eat when eating from the safe side of the lip. Hope that helps!

guest_guest thanks for your support. That's exactly what I am doing - eating from the safe side of my mouth. I still don't manage to open it wide and I don't smile as much as I used to. My lips are really dry but I think they are getting better. Still a little swollen but fingers crossed all will be good. The stitches are still there though....

I have an appointment to get my mucocele removed in a couple weeks and am curious as to how much it costs before insurance...
