I was able to avoid surgery

I hesitated to write on here at first because I was worried that my Mucocele would come back . But it has been over two months and I am Mucocele free! Here is my story . I had a lump in my mouth the size of a Corn kernel that grew and grew , i would talk and people would look at my large bottom lip. It was damaging to my self esteem ! I began to freak out thinking it was Cancer and every other kind of scary thought that can run through your mind ! I stayed up every night for a week researching even watching You tube videos on self extraction because i don't have insurance . I completely freaked out ! So i read everything i could get my hands on and decided it was a mucocele. I went to a dentist , armed with my research from the web and he confirmed it is a Mucocele . He told me about my only option being Surgery . I did not want to do surgery because of the following reasons 1. I am scared of needles . 2. I am scared of the Pain 3. I have heard that they can still come back 4. I am scared of scaring. 5. I simply can not afford it . So I informed the dentist that I had read a topical steroid named   clobetasol propionate
.05% has worked for others. He was very hesitant to perscribe this as it is NOT to be ingested and he feared that the side effects would out weight the risk, it is also NOT for internal use . I was at my wits end and was willing to try any topical prior to surgery . And i did . I applied the topical steroid to my Mucocele and just sat there with a cotton swab holding the topical steroid until i felt it had dried out for about 15 - 20 min each night. With in 2 nights I noticed a difference . With in 1 week it was 90 % gone and with in 2 weeks there was no evidence of a Mucocele. I am posting this info here in hopes that I can help someone else avoid surgery . The steroid cost was $39 , the time I spent treating it was 15 - 20 each night for approx 2 weeks , and I feel that this was the best possible solution for me.
