my mucocele surgery
I have just gone thru my second surgery to remove my mucocele. It came back in another area around the surgery incision. Has anyone else had this happen to them? it reoccurs during the healing process. Now i have had two unsuccessfull surgeries in the last 3 months and very weary about going back under the knife. I might do the laser removal method next time. these things or a pain. i really hope this one goes away on its own.
Mucoceles, I've been told, will indeed come back. I asked my dental surgeon before she removed my mucucele today, are they like kidney stones? Once you get them, they can come back? And it's quite possible that this happens. My mucucele wasn't diagnosed properly until I went for a check up today. And then had the surgery there and then to remove it. It apparently ruptured, so they couldn't remove it in a oner. She had to keep tugging away to get all the bits out. Maybe, this is too descriptive, lol. Anyway, my own dentist couldn't tell what it was for sure, she said it might be a mucocele, but made the appointment at the dental surgeon for me(waiting list for this) to be sure. My GP didn't know what it was either, even after asking one of their colleagues. So. no restpite there either. It wasn't until I got some advice from the UK's advice line NHS 24, that I got talking to someone who put my mind at ease. But still, the waiting was a wee bit of a killer. However, diagnosis and surgery have now passed, mouth a bit sore, and will just have to see how things go. They are common, come in all shapes and sizes apparently. It's just the human body doing what it does I guess.
