Re: burst mucocele
No, same as bigjohnny, my mucocele would flatten and then get bigger. You didn't do any harm. but it shouldn't have hurt. so maybe you did do a little harm, but it's nothing to worry about. You might want to get it removed.
Re: Turned Out To Be An Abcessed Tooth
oh well you'd rather have an abcessed tooth, in my opinion, than a mucocele. Hope the root canal went well. :)
Re: I'm not a member, but I'm posting anyway.
you know, u should really get an account here if you're gonna be rude like that. Google it then comment back when you grow up.
Re: Does it get bigger if you drain it?
okay... U AREN'T SUPPOSED TO DRAIN IT. unless ur ENT or oral surgeon did, you could make it bigger than it is now. draining it before u get it removed can cause it to come back, maybe. That's what I'm thinking.
Re: MY 4 YEAR OLD MIGHT HAVE ONE
oh i'm a child and had one. i'm the only one i know, so probably about one in 50 children have one. I got it removed. i wouldn't recommend getting it removed to a 4-year-old. because i'm 11 and it hurts. your daughter would have trouble eating, talking, and could take the stitches out accidentally. one to 4 stitches are the most stitches you could get. hope this helps.
Re: mucocele
oh my gosh. I have NEVER heard of that! that does sound scary. that'd seem hard to remove, too. i'm so sorry! but i didn't know u have salive glands on ur throat...that's what a mucocele is. a damaged salive gland. i know it's a late response but good luck!!! i really hope it's a successful surgery if you remove it! All my wishes, Laney. :)
Re: just had mine removed! I have a question about stitches though....
ooh my gosh. weird. i got mine removed and i feel exactly how u feel.
Re: Recurrance
yeah throughout the whole tongue it's commonly located under the tongue usually on the floor. and are u sure it isn't coming back as a new one? Because people mistake them as the same one. My mucocele hurt some days and others it was like it wasn't even there. No, I didn't get my tongue pierced, and if you did, that's probably why you have a mucocele. Also, for future reference if you haven't pierced it, piercing your lip can cause mucoceles.
Re: No health insurance - what is approx. cost of mucocele removal/treatment?
To: goofyjim .... I'm pretty sure. but i dont recommend laser surgery, because mucoceles most likely come back with that surgery. And that doesn't usually get all of the mucoceles.
Re: No health insurance - what is approx. cost of mucocele removal/treatment?
i got mine removed and i have tri-care, (which is an insurance that gets discounts because one of my family members is in the reserves.) which was only 388, but for general anesthesia without health insurance is about 600 here where we live. and with health insurance, just not specificly tri-care, is like 316.
