Hello mouthfromthesouth!
That looks like it could be a mucocele. Mucoceles usually appear on the bottom lip but can appear anywhere in the mouth. I had one on the roof of my mouth. When they appear on the roof of your mouth, they are referred to as superficial mucoceles. I say you should get it checked out by your dentist just to get it confirmed and just to be sure.

Hello Lanivaitor,
It looks like it has a bit of a bluish tint to it..mucoceles can be bluish. Does it hurt any? Is it hard or soft? It looks rather large. Mucoceles do appear on the bottom lip. From your pic, it looks as if your bump is in the corner of your mouth on the bottom part of your lip. I think you should try to get it checked out just to be sure.
I know you said that you don't have any insurance but you might be able to go to your local health department. They might be able to look at it for you for free. I work for a health department and sometimes, they have a dental office inside. Or, check your local college or university. They may have a dental school and the cost is affordable. My sis went to University of Michigan to get a dental cleaning for 50 bucks. Hope this helps! Let us know what happens and good luck!

White bump inside mouth (pic included),
by mouthfromthesouth
It's just behind second molar, right side of roof of mouth, almost where the top meets the bottom of the mouth. Painless, felt a little saltiness for a minute as if it was leaking blood or pus. Just noticed it tonight after eating dinner. It felt big with my tongue, but the pic shows it as no more than a couple of millimeters in diameter. Any clue? Thanks!

Re: Should I get surgery in a week? ,

Hi Karajan,
I know it seems crappy, but hang in there! The oral surgeon doesn't have anymore suggestions? It seems as if you've been through a lot with getting it removed. I don't know if any of the home remedies will work for you but at least it will be worth a try. A lot of people in this forum try the evening primrose oil. Rub some on your mucocele every night before you go to bed. Soak a little piece of TP or get a gauze and soak it with the EPO and put it on your mucocele like a little compress. I know it might not seem like a good way to get rid of it despite you going through surgery, but at least its worth a try. Good luck and let us know what happens!

Hi,
I totally agree that worrying about your mucocele will only drive you insane. And others really don't understand unless they have been through it themselves. My husband and sister thought I was crazy because I started freaking out about it. When I found this forum, it was kinda calming because I found others who felt the same way as I did about some bump in my mouth. Knowing that others experienced what I did was comforting and relaxing. I also learned a lot from this forum. So whatever I learn new about mucoceles, or if I can ease someones mental state a little bit, I will help!

Hi Big Johnny,
I totally forgot about rannula. I was so used to them being on the bottom lip or roof of the mouth.

Hi
ive gotten mine removed twice in the same spot and once in another spot on my lower lip. im 15 now and it is annoying to have there. i feel like everyone looks at that when im talking or smiling. ive had the same two in my bottom lip for over a year and they stay the same size. one is pretty big i think. but last time i had them removed the doctor took out a ball that was in the bump. so cutting it and draining wont do much becuase the little stupid ball of whatever will be there untill u take it out. a few months ago i went to a different doctor and he said to leave it alone. he said since i already had it removed twice it will most likely come back and theres a good chance of new ones forming around it during the surgery. this was terrible news to me because im so self conscious of them. i wish there was something that would get rid of em permanently but i dont think there is especially if they've came back after you got em removed once. but i suggest not to cut them ne more because it may make them smaller for a day or so but it doesnt get rid of the ball in side of the lump.
Surgery tomorrow,
by lphanger
I've had a rather large mucocele for over a month. When I first got it, I drained it and it came back a few days later. I scheduled an appt. with a doctor and scheduled a surgery for tomorrow. At the time it was 1cm. Well, in the next few days it grew even more. Well, as I ate dinner, I accidentally bit it. It drained and bled, but has not formed a new lump. (It's been two days since that happened) Well, though there's no large lump, I can see that one is forming. There is also a small white bump. I can see that my saliva is still draining (very slowly from the front of my lip), which is why I suspect a large lump hasn't formed yet. My big question though is will the Dr still be able to remove the damaged gland, etc. even though I no longer have a large lump? I know it's only a matter of time for it to come back, and I'd rather do it tomorrow since it's scheduled and all.
Thanks for any input!

hey everyone :D
i'm the original poster of this forum...i'm glad to see it has helped so many people! Be patient with the treatment, it can take a week or so for the EPO to do its thing. I noticed a change in texture first, it got soft and pliable, and then it wasn't for a week or so that i noticed a change in size. It then was a small raised dot for awhile where the duct was healing...and eventually it dissapeared!
It has been just over a year since i had the mucocele and it has not returned. I couldn't even tell you where it used to be...!
Anyway, keep up the good work, and spread the word about this non-invasive treatment!

It looks like one. On the floor of the mouth, they're known as rannula. Agree you ought to get it looked at though to be sure.

Chuppa:
It could be a mucocele because they can appear under the tounge. You probably should go to a dentist to get it confirmed though. Do you remember eating something that might have punchered you under your tounge? Have you tried any home treatments?? Give some a try and let us know what happens.

Hi Chuppa:
It's kinda hard to tell from your pics. Mucoceles usually look kinda bluish or transparent looking in color. Is is soft or hard? Has it ever bursted? Is it sore??
